The Bag

It was a long day.  After finishing up a full day at school, I sorted and packed up the papers (okay, students sorted them for me) into my bag.  I sat down to talk with parents about their child's progress for parent teachers.  The bag sat on the counter.

I attended a viewing afterwards for a family from school who lost a dear one to a tragic accident this week.  The bag sat in the car.

I emptied and loaded the dishwasher.  The bag sat on the couch.

I typed my Slice.  The bag stayed on the couch.

Too bad papers.  You'll be graded tomorrow.  Or the next day.  Or maybe the following.  Right now the bag needs to stay where it is.

Wow! I can't tell you how many times I've brought my bag home and left it right where I put it when I walked in the door from the night before...I can totally relate and yes, the bag can wait.

Glad you posted instead of grabbing the bag. I just left mine at school today, because I wanted to read posts.

Your bag is right where it belongs - neglected while you tend to life. I love how you used that bag as a refrain in your piece. It kept coming back to me, but it was so unimportant in the scheme of your day.

Oh, the good 'ol school bag. It can wait and wait. It'll still be there in the morning. Thanks for sharing. I think a lot of us can relate.

Excellent repetition, Cathy! I'm glad you squeezed a slice in, even with the extra hours at school.

Oh, how familar that BAG is! Mine -- full of data reports and requests for funding proposals -- is sitting in my comfy chair right now. Maybe tomorrow ...
