Potpourri

I am in my classroom today (ended up not tutoring), so I cleaned out old files and just tried to organize! Are there any other educators out there overwhelmed at the prospect of next year? Was I like this last year? I don't think so. I know that I'm still learning a lot with reading workshop and I am doing more now for the kids than I did a few years ago...just overwhelmed at where to begin. What procedures to teach? What assessments to use? What order to use? Whew! I'm probably overwhelming you as you read.

However, in response to my last post, what does it look like to follow Jesus as a teacher? I've come up with a small answer. We are talking about worship at church. Giving my career to God and allowing Him to sustain me, provide me with resources, and doing the very best I can for these kids is just a part of it.

I am super overwhelmed in a good way. I have literally gone into my room a couple of times and just stood there...staring...going, "Oh boy...I can't decide what to do!!"

Hi! I am starting out by going through my books, sorting-labeling-coding with teaching points.... Hopefully that will make it smoother for me-----

Just take a deep breath and let the big man guide ya....

Good post - I will be headed to the room this week (first time all summer!). I wanted to address your question about being a teacher...That's just what Jesus did. He taught and he didn't worry about stepping on toes or conforming to what everyone wanted to hear. He did what needed to be done and knew that his time with people was short. So, even if he couldn't spend as much time with people as he wanted to he made the most of the time he had with one simple thing - LOVE! You are so good at loving your kids for who they are and I think that is just why Jesus put you where he has. Miss ya!
