My online friends...

I received a phone call yesterday that one of the ladies whose blog I read regularly was going to be in town. I was so excited that I quickly changed plans that I had with my small group girls. There was a group of six of us that got together for dinner last night. Out of the group, I have the pleasure of working in the same corporation as two of them and was able to meet two others (who live about an hour away) last summer at a brunch. What I admire most about these ladies is the passion they have for what they do. On dreary days of being an educator, they are a reminder to me to continue to push myself to be the very best educator I can be. They are encouraging, supportive, and have been very kind to me when it comes to my blog and my own learning. In the days of technology, it's still nice to know that there are real people out there who genuinely care about others and about me. I'm so blessed to know them and call them friends.

Cathy! I can't believe it! It's Melissa (Whitley)Blackford! It's been SO long! You will never believe how I came across your blog. Well, first I've been reading Deanna's through blog-hopping from my sister's to others and saw a picture of you on the Maid of the Mist. I studied the picture and thought, "that girl looks familiar" and read that your name was Cathy, and voila, it all clicked! Wow, where are you teaching these days? We have been living in So. California for almost 2 1/2 years. Quentin still works for Zimmer but here it's Zimmer, Dental. We've got 3 kiddos, Trey (5), Emma (4), and Lucy (1). I haven't taught since Trey was born, but certainly miss those days and especially the children very much. Let's keep in touch...

Cathy, please remember us when this year gets you down. Remember to do what is best for your students, be able to document why you are doing it and the results you are getting. Have faith in what you believe in because you have researched and you know a lot more than the rest of the world gives you credit for. If you need to talk I am just a click away.
